There was a place in Istanbul called the Bosphorus. This Bosphorus separated two continents: Asia on one side and Europe on the other. Ships, boats, boats and big merchant ships used to pass over the Bosphorus.

Inside the Bosphorus, in the sea, many fish lived. Security was very important for these fish. The fish had no idea what was going on above the sea. But the fish under the sea had built a world for themselves with the things brought by the sea for centuries. The other fish didn’t even know about this world.

The fish were doing their best to keep themselves safe. Fortunately, their color and scales prevented them from being seen in the sea. But one day, there was a newborn red fish. Its scales were very bright. Everyone was very surprised. The old fish thought their safety would be in danger because the red fish could be seen everywhere.

The red fish’s parents managed to convince everyone that there was no danger. In time, everyone accepted the red fish and loved him very much. But one day, the red fish’s father had an idea. He covered the red fish with moss and created an armor over him. But the red fish was not happy about this. Because the seaweed was restricting his movements and slowing down his swimming.

His friends weren’t happy about it either. The baby fish started to refuse to play with him. The red fish was very upset and started swimming with all his might. As he swam and swam, he finally came very close to the surface of the sea. Something red on the surface of the sea called out to him: “Run away, red fish! What are you doing? The fisherman has started fishing, get out of here now!”

The red fish was surprised by the sound he heard. He looked up and saw something big and red. He was a little scared but very curious. He hurried away, but he couldn’t overcome his curiosity. He wondered what that big red thing was, how it lived up there, if it was happy. And he decided to meet it.

One day when the sea was very stormy, he swam quickly to the red thing. This red thing was a boat. The red boat said to him, “What are you doing here, red fish? The sea is very stormy and it is very dangerous for you to swim so fast.” But the red fish said, “I am very curious to know what you are. What kind of fish are you? Are you happy there? How do you live there?”

The red boat gave a big laugh. “I’m not a fish! I am a red boat,” he said. “But being red is very dangerous,” said the red fish. “No, it is not dangerous at all. I am very happy with my situation. Everyone can see me. Even the seagulls land on me.” “In fact, it is good for you to be red,” he added.

“What do you mean?” said the red fish. “But I’m in danger when I’m seen. My friends don’t think like you,” said the red fish.

“Let me put it this way,” said the red boat. “If you hadn’t been red that day, I wouldn’t have been able to see you and warn you against the fisherman. I think you should tell this to your friends. If I could have seen these friends of yours, I would have warned them against all the fishermen until today.”

The red fish wanted to learn from the red boat about the dangers and safe places at sea. “Can you help me with that?” he asked. “I’ll do my best,” said the red boat. And he told him all the dangers, the things to look out for and the safe places.

The red fish swam excitedly to his friends and the other fish. And he told them everything that had happened. Now the red fish they were afraid of had become their protector.

Would you like to read the story of the Poor Fisherman?

Welcome to the tale of the Red Fish.
